Advent Lutheran Gators Capture State Championship

The Advent Lutheran School Boys Varsity basketball Team has just recently been named the 2014-2015 Florida Lutheran Athletic Association basketball state champions.

The Advent Lutheran Gators of Boca Raton capped a perfect 21-0 season with two big wins in Orlando. The boys defeated Faith Lutheran School of Eustis, FL in the semi-finals and edged St Michael Lutheran School of Fort Myers, FL in the state finals to earn a bid into the National Tournament in Valparaiso, Indiana. During the run, Advent earned a conference title, regional title, and state title.

In addition to the collective accolades Advent attained, two players from the team earned individual awards themselves. Charles West was named to the all-tournament team, while JJ Prien was announced as the tournament’s most valuable player.

The ALS roster is comprised of the following players: TJ Lawlor, Logan Allegianis-Pierce, Adam Chaskes, Brandon Youngblood, JJ Prien, Charles West, Michael Bent, Carsten Finnvold, Ryan Dingle, James Gibney, Christian Russo, Eric Salvati, Chase McAllister, Dylan Butera, and Michael Schepps

The team is headed by Coach Dusty Pflugner and assisted by Coach Dave Franklin.
