Christian Music Explosion in South FL

The Christian Music Explosion (CME) seeks to identify South Florida’s top amateur Christian performer as a panel of judges looks for that outstanding combination of talent, passion, uplifting message, and star quality that will mark the ultimate winner.
Throughout July, contestants submitted entries of their vocal talent ranging from contemporary to traditional including rock, pop, rap, country, and soul. On Friday, August 20, the top twenty contestants will have one chance to impress the audience and judges alike with the winner receiving a professionally produced music video.
Tony LeBron, national winner of the Gospel Channel’s Gospel Dream 2009, is well acquainted with how God can use a talent show competition to launch or expand a musical Life and career. “To have Tony LeBron on our stage is a blessing.” shares Joyce Feldman, Director of Community Relations of 4KIDS of South Florida, “He’s been performing with some of the biggest names in Christian music, like Amy Grant and Michael W Smith, and we’re blessed to have him on board with us.” Tony will perform as well as serve as the event’s Master of Ceremonies.
The Christian Music Explosion promises to be an evening of incredible Culture and drama as someone’s dream of a vocal Life will be advanced. It is also an evening with a purpose as proceeds benefit Independent Living, the faith-based residential service of 4KIDS of South Florida. Born of a vision that Pastor Doug Sauder had in 2001, Independent Living mentors, serves, and supports kids, ages 18-23, who have “aged out” of the foster care system by helping them transition toward self-sufficiency.
“Psalm 27:10 reads, ‘When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me.’ and that is exactly what we at Independent Living are here to do, take care of these lost kids who are falling between the cracks in the system. They’re too old for foster care and yet too young, too unguided to walk in God’s path. We want them to thrive,” explains Ken Lacy, Director of Independent Living.
Lacy reflects, “Cece (see story) is an example of a life impacted by Independent Living. It’s truly amazing how faith and guidance can transform lives. This is why we’re creating the Christian Music Explosion. In this economy, people tend to cut back on their expenses and focus on the basics. This fundraiser will be a fun, glorious day that will support us in providing the spiritual basics for our community and celebrate the depth of talent He has provided performers throughout our community.”
Christian Music Explosion takes place on Friday, August 20, 2010 at Christ Church, located at 4845 NE 25th Avenue, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33308. Doors open at 6:30pm and the event will run from 7-9pm.
