As one of the highest abortion impact areas in the nation, Broward County is home to 23 known abortion clinics. Last year alone more than 12,000 abortions were reported in the county; however, based on the economics of running an abortion clinic, many experts feel these numbers may be highly under reported, possibly reflecting only those abortions paid for by check or credit card. All Ages Walk for Life | October 18th
Uniting a community in support of life, Walk for Life 2014 brings together families with toddlers, teens, singles and seniors for a fun event focused on saving lives. For each $400 in pledges raised, Hope Women’s Centers can provide the services to save one life. Their goal this year is to raise $160,000 – enough to save 400 lives. Last year more than 225 people walked in the event, which has been held annually since 1991.
You can lace up your shoes and Walk for Life on Saturday, October 18 at 5:30 p.m.
at Westminster Academy West Athletic Field, 3701 NW 44 St., Lauderdale Lakes.
Ted Key, who walks with his wife and children in the event, said, “It is important for me to instill in my kids that life is a precious gift and without that gift they wouldn’t be here.” For Key this is close to his heart since his parents adopted him from a birth mother who considered abortion. To participate, first register online at FriendsOfHope.com. You can sponsor yourself, ask four friends for a gift of $100 or ask 20 people to give a gift of $20. Bring your pledge sheet to the walk on October 18. The walk is the party for those who raise funds. There will be a petting zoo, bounce house, pony rides, BBQ dinner, ice cream, great music and more as a thank you for walking.
