Les Feldman: Christmas 2025

I loved the curmudgeon Andy Rooney, the longtime 60 Minutes commentator who talked about Christmas many times over the years. While he didn’t have a single, definitive “Christmas essay,” his reflections tended to circle the same themes. Here’s the meaning of Christmas in the spirit and tone of Andy Rooney, without inventing any word-for-word quotes: Christmas, Rooney often suggested, wasn’t about spectacle or perfection—not the perfect gift, the perfect tree or the perfect family gathering. He had a way of pointing out that people work themselves into exhaustion trying to make a holiday “special,” when the things that make it special are usually […]

Franklin Graham: No Backing Down in the Face of Persecution

Millions witnessed what forgiveness looks like when Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, quoted Jesus’ cry from the cross before she forgave the man who murdered her husband. Eleven days after Charlie’s assassination — near the end of a nearly six-hour memorial service at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona — Erika declared from the podium: “On the cross, our Savior said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they [do] not know what they do.’ That man. That young man. I forgive him. I forgive him because it was what Christ did, and it’s what Charlie would do. The answer to hate is not […]

Dr. O.S. Hawkins: Where Are the Nine?

In America we once set aside a special day each year for the express purpose of offering thanks to God for His many blessings upon us and upon our nation. We called it Thanksgiving Day. Oh, we still have that day on the calendar, but along the way its original purpose seems to have been completely overshadowed. This special holiday has become synonymous with parades and pumpkin pies, football games and food. Fewer and fewer of us pause to offer heartfelt thanks to God for His many blessings and great faithfulness. One day, near the end of Christ’s time on […]

Hundreds Join Life Chain to Pray for the Unborn in Broward County

More than 300 people representing over 20 churches gathered along University Drive on Sunday, October 5, for the annual Life Chain observance, a national pro-life event promoting prayer and peaceful witness for the unborn. Participants lined the roadway from Sample Road to Miramar Parkway between 2 and 3 p.m., holding signs with messages such as “Adoption, the Loving Option,” “Abortion Hurts Women,” and “Life: The First Inalienable Right.” Abortion has taken more than 63 million lives in America since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision by the U.S. Supreme Court. The Court overturned that decision in 2022; however, abortion remains […]

William “Bill” C. Davell: Charitable Giving Strategies: How to Be a Bigger Blessing

The Good News provides a monthly column with important content having to do with topics from the legal community. This month Bill Davell discusses giving strategies with Christine Yates, director with Tripp Scott. ————————————————————————————————–   “It is more blessed to give than to receive,” said the Lord Jesus. Americans – especially those who consider themselves people of faith – take this exhortation seriously. Charitable contributions of nearly half a trillion dollars in 2020 alone were greater than the entire gross domestic products of most European countries. More than 80% of giving is done by individuals, much of it to faith-based […]
