These days it seems as if churches are known more about what they are against, rather than what they are for. However, God seems to be up to something in our tri-county area. There is a movement called ChurchUnited afoot here in South Florida — a movement of churches coming together to live out Jeremiah 29:7, to seek the peace and prosperity of our region.   The eleventh day of the eleventh month is currently known as Veterans’ Day in America and has been celebrated as a day to honor veterans since 1954. Parades and ceremonies often honor veterans and sometimes other community events are held as well. In South Florida, West Palm Beach is hosting a community celebration on Veterans’ Day with a parade, live music, vendors and a picnic. (www.vetfriends.com/parades/directory.cfm?state=FL).   Dr. Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon who ran for president of the United States, visited Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale in October to address the challenging topic of racial reconciliation. In introducing the topic, Calvary Chapel Pastor Doug Sauder asserted that the more diverse a church is the stronger the unity is.   Haiti has been struck by yet another natural disaster, only six years after being rocked by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake that leveled Port-au-Prince and Jacmel.
