  Now celebrating 30 years, His Caring Place has offered love, encouragement and guidance to about a thousand young women struggling with crisis pregnancies since its inception. Sheriff’s Office Honors Women of Faith

In honor of Women’s History Month, the Broward Sherriff’s Office celebrated female spiritual leaders at the agency’s first-ever Women’s Clergy Appreciation Breakfast on March 8. Cheeseburger in Paradise Raises Funds for People with Disabilities

It was an evening of burgers, music and fun at the annual “Cheeseburger in Paradise” event hosted by Victory Living Programs. This sold out island-themed event with more than 200 guests in attendance raised approximately $26,000. Proceeds from the event will help support the organization’s various programs that aim to help individuals with disabilities live a more independent life. Sweet Dreams Gala Supports 4KIDS

4KIDS raised more than $180,000 to benefit kids in crisis during their Sweet Dreams Gala on February 27, at the Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton. March of Dimes and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Bring Stork’s Nest Prenatal Program to Broward County

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Stork’s Nest Prenatal Program was held on February 29 at Seagull Alternative High School. Stork’s Nest is a collaborative community-based program between the March of Dimes and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. that encourages pregnant women to receive early and regular prenatal care to help them have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.  Students were registered in December and the Stork’s Nest officially opened its doors on February 29. Place of Hope celebrated its 15th year of serving foster children and a decade of hosting one of the season’s signature events at its 10th Annual Hope Bash. Korean War Veteran Now Has a Wheelchair Accessible Home Thanks to Local Volunteers

Homer Goddard served in the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star. When he left the military he worked in the construction industry and built the home he lives in today. But now the 85-year-old is struggling with Parkinson’s disease and uses a wheelchair which the home isn’t built to accommodate. On March 11, more than 20 volunteers from local Home Depot stores volunteered to make the changes to his home for free. Saint Joseph’s School Opens Green Market

On March 11 Saint Joseph’s Episcopal School middle school students harvested, packaged, and sold fresh produce from the school’s Community Garden and Tower Garden. St. Joe’s students, from the youngest three year olds to graduating eighth-graders, participated in tending the gardens as all learned sustainability, organic gardening, and the business of farming.
