Good News Wants to Know… What skill would you like to learn?

Studies show that being a lifelong learner can benefit your mind, career, mental health and social life, but it also takes some investment of time and resources. This month, Good News Wants to Know… If you could learn one skill instantly, what would it be? If I could Learn one skill instantly I would like to learn how to JUGGLE. I JUGGLE a handful of things on any given day (which I’m sure most of us do). If I could actually learn how to JUGGLE without dropping anything, I believe that would be a great skill to have, LOL. Also in Children’s Ministry, […]

“And I Won’t Forget the Man Who Died”

With another Memorial Day upon us, it’s great to remember those who laid down their lives for their country. On November 21, 1864, President Lincoln wrote to a Mrs. Bixby of Massachusetts, who had lost five sons in the Civil War. He wrote her, “I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.” Then he added this beautiful prayer: “I […]

Navigating Florida’s Judicial System

The Good News provides a monthly column with important content having to do with topics from the legal community. This month features a conversation with Robert Meacham, a director at Tripp Scott Law Firm, who represents a wide variety of clients in the fields of construction, business and real estate law, including litigation and transactional representation. Courts can be scary places. Seemingly all-powerful robed judges hover behind a tall bench, gavel in hand. Court rules and language are often unfamiliar, no matter how many TV legal dramas we’ve watched. Typically, parties or loved ones are in court because something untoward […]

The Chosen

The motley crew left a cloud of dust as they walked down the narrow road donning their tired robes and worn sandals. Leading the pack were the spokesman, his brother, the sons of thunder and the recruiter. Following them a short distance behind were the true Israelite, the skeptic, the tax man, followed by anonymity and humility, while trailing them came the “human caboose” consisting of the terrorist and the betrayer. The leader of the “peloton” walked several yards in front of the pack with all the ease and grace of someone in total control of the situation. Unexpected companions […]

The Prayer that Gets Results

“O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, the Lord who said to me, ‘Return to your country and to your family, and I will deal well with you’: I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies and of all the truth which You have shown Your servant; for I crossed over this Jordan with my staff, and now I have become two companies. Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, lest he come and attack me and the mother with […]
