Choose Wisely

How do you know which way is right? That is a significant question, isn’t it? Where do we go for answers? How do we know which way is right? How does the next generation learn to think for themselves rather than be guided by the latest trends? As parents, how do we give them a compass for life’s direction? We are entering into an election season. Many ideas and statements will be made by the candidates. How do we know which is right and which is wrong?   In one of the final scenes of the third movie of Raiders […]

Till Death Us Do Part?

Whether we’re married or not, most people can recite the traditional Christian wedding vows; I, (Name), take you, (Name), to be my lawfully wedded wife/husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God’s holy law, in the presence of God I make this vow. I have to admit that although I dated my husband off and on for nine years, I had no idea of the challenge or significance of the vows I […]

Good News Wants to Know… Who was your favorite teacher?

It’s hard to believe summer will be drawing to an end soon.  As students head back to school in August, Good News Wants to Know… Who was your favorite teacher, in what subject and why?   My favorite teacher was in Junior High School. He was a physics professor named BoBo Anderson. He was able to take a very challenging course and make it fun and interesting. He pushed his students in a way to challenge us to think outside of the square. As a result, we advanced far above what a normal classroom teacher could accomplish. We visited Cape Canaveral in […]

Good News Wants to Know… What was your life like before cell phones?

In today’s world if you forget your cell phone, you’re likely to panic. Good News Wants to Know… What was your life like before cell phones?   When I started my career thank goodness there were beepers and pay-phones. If you were calling back long distance, you had better have a pocket full of quarters and good eyes to spot a payphone as you drove down the street, and hopefully there was not too big a line to use the phone and it worked. Don Campion, Founder/CEO, Banyan Air Service   Wow! Life before a cell phone…? I remember having a […]

Can I legally make my business a Christian Workplace?

Many of my clients have inquired whether they, as Christian businessmen, can declare their business to be “Christian” without risking a charge of religious discrimination. The answer depends in large measure on what they mean by the term “Christian workplace.” If the intention is to only hire persons of the Christian faith then in most cases the employer would be violating the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which not only forbids such discrimination but also requires employers to accommodate the religious views and practices of employees unless such accommodation would create an undue hardship. Churches are excluded from the religious discrimination […]

The Pathway to Choosing Pixels over People: Pornography

The first known use of the word pixel was in 1965. The creation was from pic + element to form pixel. /piksel/ Google defines it as a minute area of illumination on a display screen, one of many from which an image is composed. “The camera scans photographs and encodes the image into pixels.” Live the Life South Florida was launched in 2014. In 2015 we had about 800 people participate in one of our programs. All participants are asked to complete an anonymous evaluation of the class, and at that time they were asked to circle as many as […]

The Secret to Balancing Family and Ministry

My dad and I just got back from our annual “Mahi massacre” fishing trip. For many years we have set sail excited about quality father/son time, the thrill of the sport and some really good eats. But it’s also a chance for us to get out on the open waters. We can breathe deeply and think, talk, process and pray through life, ministry, and leadership issues with a handful of other key influencers — an “iron sharpening iron” experience. We anticipated some heavy questions and deep conversations, but the question of the day surprised us! Every guy on the boat […]

Your Child’s Failures are Great Instructors

“We want every child to be free of the fear of failure,” was a statement made to me. This particular school system was pursuing a new way of evaluating the educational progress of their students. No grades, no labels, just an educational experience that each child can feel good about. The obvious question that must be answered is, “Is failure bad?” Is there something that can be learned from the experience of failure? Will life after school not include failures? It reminds me of the parent that said their family never played games because their children couldn’t stand to lose. […]
