Undivided

In the midst of one of the most contentious, combative and polarized seasons our country has ever faced lies one of the greatest opportunities for the Church in South Florida. Though fear, anxiety, anger, political identity and division have become commonplace, this bleak backdrop has sent our friends, neighbors and co-workers searching for answers – for hope. Now is the time for God’s people to demonstrate that the Church of Jesus Christ stands unified and undivided. Undivided Throughout the month of November, Churches from across South Florida will be preaching through a common teaching series called Undivided. This three week […]

A Timely New Word In This Election Season

At Palm Beach Atlantic University we’ve coined a new word, one to help us explore and practice a powerful aspect of worship. Before I tell you about our new word, I must explain how at PBA we have precedent for creating such a special word. The founders of the University saw community service as a pillar of the Palm Beach Atlantic ethos. They believed serving others is one important way we worship God. So founding President Dr. Jess C. Moody and his wife, Doris, coined a word by combining work with worship. Thus they christened the PBA community service program […]

Food For the Poor, Baptist Churches Distribute Aid to Struggling Families

Food For The Poor teamed up with four Broward County churches last month to distribute household items and other basic necessities to struggling families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Parkridge Church in Coral Springs hosted the distribution, which provided essential goods to hundreds of families who came from all over Broward. At times, the line of cars stacked up in a back-and-forth loop taking up most of the field on the east side of the church. Longtime partner Matthew 25: Ministries provided a 53-foot tractor-trailer to Food For The Poor filled with personal care items such as shampoo, deodorant, razors […]

Late-Term Abortion Facility Closed in Broward

This past March a team of pro-life sidewalk counselors got great news! The late-term abortion facility where, for seven years, they stood on the sidewalk and offered help to pregnant women was finally shutting its doors. The prayers and peaceful presence of these tireless warriors made a difference. The news was especially gratifying, considering the number of abortions that occur every year in Broward County. In 2019 alone, the lives of 9,864 unborn children were tragically lost to abortion. Broward Right to Life has had volunteers reaching out in front of this facility, the Fort Lauderdale Women’s Center on Oakland […]

Establish A Routine To Help Kids Thrive

We have mentioned that our kids have been the unsung heroes of this time period. Their entire sense of normalcy has been tossed out. Things they have done day in and day out since early childhood have stopped. They can’t go play with friends. They can’t go to church. They can’t even play at playgrounds. The good news for us as parents is that there is one main thing we can do to help them, especially as we head back into the school year. Kids thrive in routine; they feel secure when they know what to expect. Even though school […]

Palm Beach Atlantic University Community Sees God’s Hand in Presidential Selection

Dr. Debra A. Schwinn dove into her presidential role May 4, hearing the biblical echo for such a time as this: a call for bold leadership to face new challenges. An experienced educator, researcher and physician, Palm Beach Atlantic University’s ninth president had come with a passion and track record for collaboration and innovation. She had most recently been associate vice president for medical affairs at the University of Iowa, and last fall she had turned down other career opportunities in medicine, saying, “it became very clear that God was calling me to Christian universities.” With “the innovativeness of PBA, […]
