211 Broward announced the finalists for the 12th Annual Community Care Plan Non-Profit Awards on Tuesday, January 10 at an exclusive Broward Health VIP Announcement livestreaming show and reception at ArtServe.  The 12th Annual Community Care Plan Non-Profit Awards acknowledge the highest level of achievement, innovation, and quality in the non-profit sector. Every non-profit is encouraged to attend the luncheon and awards ceremony on March 3, 2023, at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino to celebrate their contributions to the community. Rally Demands Heartbeat Bill Passage

Dozens of Broward voters rallied January 21 in downtown Fort Lauderdale to demand that the Republican-led Florida legislature pass a “Heartbeat Bill” in its 2023 session which opens March 7. The lifesaving measure protects unborn children from abortion once their beating hearts are detectable by ultrasound—at about six weeks gestation. The measure cut the number of Texas abortions in half after it became law in September 2021. With festive music and décor in the background, Food For The Poor (FFTP) volunteers in December packed 1,518 holiday food kits for impoverished families in the Caribbean and Latin America.
