On May 2nd, over 315 Firewall students, their mentors, staff, and volunteers completed service projects throughout Broward County as a part of the Serve-A-Thon. This annual event is intended to show students in the after-school program the importance of giving back to their community. Firewall students from Pompano Beach Middle, Blanche Ely High and Crystal Lake Middle cleaned up the outside area at Broward’s Children Center. First United Church of Jesus Christ in Lauderdale Lakes celebrated the 100th Birthday of their church mother, Else Lee, on May 30. Not long after moving to Florida in 1978, Lee opened and used her home as a church for Sunday services until a permanent place of worship was found for the church, said Bishop Izett R.
