Make Christmas Meaningful for Kids

If you are like most families, the Christmas season brings a certain anticipation of one, two or even twelve days filled with family traditions. From Christmas trees shopping adventures to decorating your house with mistletoes, candles and candy canes, baking delicious desserts and splashing the Christmas colors and twinkle lights everywhere from the family room to the front yard — in other words, the Christmas you have always imagined. For our children, this Christmas is still being written upon their future memories. So, how can we as parents make Christmas more about the reason and less about the season? […]

ChurchUnited Fosters Uncommon Partnership

These days it seems as if churches are known more about what they are against, rather than what they are for. However, God seems to be up to something in our tri-county area. There is a movement called ChurchUnited afoot here in South Florida — a movement of churches coming together to live out Jeremiah 29:7, to seek the peace and prosperity of our region. Looking back over the last twelve months we can find tangible examples of unity, renewal, and partnership towards a common vision of seeing God’s Kingdom expanded. Common Goals Make Partnerships For example, in a recent […]

Let the World Know Why the Bible Matters to You #WhyBible

The Barna Group has recently released data that is slightly positive, but also incredibly frightening and sad. The good news is a survey they conducted shows about two-thirds of all Americans believe that the Bible is the “actual, inspired word of God.” Now for the bad news: only 16 percent of millennials believe that the Bible is actually God’s word. Because of this sad development, Wycliffe Bible Translators are initiating a month-long #WhyBible campaign “to spark discussion about why the Bible matters today and to share stories about its incredible impact on individuals, communities and the world,” according to Scott […]

New App Translates God’s Word into Emojis

There is a trend today of making things easier, faster and less complicated: fast food you grab on the go, gourmet coffees that keep us running like machines, smart phones, which may eventually be smarter than us, and an obsession with text messaging in place of face-to-face communication. To add flair and personality to these texts, many have even fallen in love with emojis — those tiny little icons that quickly express emotion in a single image. Inventive minds are constantly focusing on making technology more helpful and intuitive. Now you can add to that list Internet emojis replacing God’s […]

Vacation Bible School: Spiritual Summer Enrichment

Many adults have fond memories of Vacation Bible School. The setting was different from a Sunday school setting: the crafts and other sessions, like music, were each done in different classrooms. The projects were fun to make and often quite complicated. The crafts, music and lessons all carried the theme of the Vacation Bible School, and often the rooms were completely decorated in the times of the lesson as well. There were even outside activities that related to the theme, or if the weather was wet, a room was cleared for gym-like activities. Sharing the experience with children can be […]
