67 Florida Women Journey to the Mountain for Freedom Challenge Wyoming

In January of 2012, the Freedom Climb began with forty-eight women from seven different countries. These women climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and were on a mission to raise funds to help oppressed women and children around the world. From the peak of that tall mountain, millions of dollars were raised and hearts were inspired to change the world on behalf of those victims. With God’s hand pushing them forward, Freedom Challenge expanded its boundaries in 2015 to open its arms to more women who wanted to help. Not only did women begin to climb mountains around the world, but they also […]

Getting Fit with Kids

I gained well over 60 pounds during my pregnancy with my daughter. I stopped weighing myself after I surpassed my husband’s weight.  As an avid athlete before my pregnancy, I was very eager to lose that weight once I got the green light to exercise by my doctor. To my surprise, I hit a brick wall when I realized that spending two hours in the gym was no longer an option. No one tells you that working out after childbirth can be very difficult, and sometimes, non-existent — especially for working moms. Between work, meetings, house chores, daycare/school needs and […]

South Florida Baseball School Inspires Excellence

Bruce Charlebois came to Parkland 20 years ago with a dream in mind: to open a school for baseball. Drafted by the New York Yankees in 1987, Charlebois had a career ending knee injury. The injury may have ended his career but not his love nor devotion for the sport. His passion for the sport led him to start a baseball camp, South Florida Baseball School (SFBS), for kids that has developed into a school that would train kids for college and even the Major League Baseball Draft. In 2005, Charlebois’ school also became a ministry for Christ. Taking a […]

The Cost of Wild Oats Sowing

“Boys will be boys, young men must sow their wild oats, and women must not expect miracles,” wrote Louisa May Alcott in her classic novel Little Women, published in 1869. Wild oats are a type of European grass. They are useless for cereal crops. Worse, they infiltrate good crops rendering them useless. According to worldwidewords.org, the idea of sowing wild oats was born in 1542. It referred to “young men who frittered away their time in stupid or idle pastimes.” How times have changed Today, the world exalts “playing the field” or “shopping around” before settling down. Through television, movies, […]

Churches Reach Tech Savvy Followers

Many moments throughout the day we find ourselves picking up our phones to check a notification, even if there is no sound to alert us of one, browse the Internet, text, use an app, listen to audio and even engage in the old-fashioned “telephone call.” Using technologies like smart phones, video, web sites, email and social media is a new way of life, and because of that today’s churches are finding new ways to spread the Gospel and stay connected to a congregation that’s not only tech savvy, but whose lives revolve around media. Leaders of small and medium-sized churches […]

Micronutrient Deficiencies May Be Dragging You Down

We all dream of growing old with vibrant energy and health. John 10:10 tells us that he came that we may have life and have it abundantly. Sadly some Christians feel as if they are barely keeping their heads above water, with very low energy levels and struggles with sleep disorders or anxiety and depression. These symptoms may be an indication of inadequate nutrition. University research shows that 50 percent of people taking multivitamins are nutritionally deficient, despite supplementation. Micronutrient deficiencies have been linked to inflammation and chronic disease, which affects the mental and physical health of an individual as […]

Practice Love, Grace and Truth

Americans awoke to news of the deadliest terror attack since 9/11 on the morning of June 12th after 29-year-old Omar Mateen opened fire inside Pulse, a gay nightclub, killing 49 and injuring 53. In a 911 call, Mateen claimed allegiance to the Islamic State, but the investigation continues into whether he had any real ties to ISIS, was inspired by their propaganda or was motivated by his own inner turmoil. The answer to those questions perhaps matters little to the grieving loved ones of the 49 people, created in the image of God, who lost their lives. The news was […]
