Free Flights For Veterans on Veteran’s Day

Paul Kramer’s Learn to Fly Center is grateful for the service of our Veterans. As a token of their gratitude, PKLTFC invites Veterans to “come fly WITH us, ON us” during Veteran’s Day. On November 11th from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Veterans will be treated to a first flight lesson in one of our exceptionally well-maintained Cessna 172’s or Piper Warrior completely free of charge. Flights normally cost $195/hr plus fuel, with instructor. There will be a stand down at 11 a.m. for a moment of silence in respectful remembrance of those who gave all. School Children Can Enter First Tobacco Free Art Exhibit

The Tobacco Free Partnership of Broward County is organizing its first Tobacco Free Art Exhibit.  Its purpose is to promote tobacco free beaches and parks in Broward County. The artwork will be produced by the youth of Broward County, ages 5 – 18.   School age children of Broward County have until October 31, 2015 to submit their entry, which will be voted on during the month of November to determine which pieces will be exhibited.  Once voting has been completed, those deemed eligible will be invited to display their artwork as part of the Tobacco Free Art Exhibit.  Participation guidelines […]

School Supplies Drive Starts for Big Brothers Big Sisters

For the price of one lunch, you can help a child for an entire year. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County is collecting school supplies for the children in our programs. The goal is to provide 400 elementary, middle and high school children with a backpack filled with age-appropriate supplies that will last them throughout the school year. Senior citizens living alone can be a little safer in Broward County due to a new touchline service. The Broward Country Sherriff’s Department seeks to ensure that they are doing everything they can for our county’s seniors while honoring and respecting their independence. In September 2013, BSO partnered with the Broward 2-1-1 Senior Touchline program.
