Rebuilding Faith in Our Community

In an effort to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community, a Town Hall Meeting entitled Rebuilding Faith in Our Community was held on August 4th in Sunrise. Hosted by The Faith Center’s Bishop Henry Fernandez, the event featured a panel discussion with Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel, area police chiefs, politicians, pastors and community leaders. With questions from the audience welcomed throughout, it was a candid  discussion about police brutality, the senseless killings of law enforcement officers, and how people can work together to make the community a safe place. “We’re all aware of the difficulties that […]

Explorer Program Gives Youth a Taste of Public Service

Imagine you are a police officer. It’s late at night and you’ve just pulled over a suspicious vehicle. As you and your partner approach the car, you must analyze and decide your next move in milliseconds. Suddenly, the driver jumps out of the car and approaches you shouting that he “wasn’t speeding.” As you firmly ask the driver to sit back in his car, the front passenger steps out and pushes past your partner. As your partner commands him to get back in the car, the passenger abruptly turns towards you and reaches for a dark object in his pocket. […]

Many people have asked how our church has been doing since then, and I thought it would be best to tell our story in a way that will benefit others and bring glory to God.

Does the Bible Talk About Dinosaurs?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions by Christians who attempt to fit dinosaurs into biblical history. Many Christians are amazed to learn that dinosaurs, as well as dragons, are mentioned in God’s Word. In the book of Job, one of the oldest books of the bible, there is an excellent description of a very large animal that can easily be described as a large dinosaur. These dinosaurs are classified as Sauropods and are noted for their large size, massive bodies, long necks and tails, small heads and thick pillar-like legs.  One of the popular and most complete […]

My Weakness, His Power

Commentary I can remember sitting in class as every student took turns reading aloud.  I would count down the number of students ahead of me until it was my turn to read. There were times I would get up and run to the restroom just to avoid reading in front of the class. I was always nervous to talk in front people because of my speech impediment. My stuttering did not consist of repetitive words but word blocks—an inability to get words out. That speech problem continued to persist throughout junior high, high school, my young adulthood and even still […]
