Pray for the Persecuted Church

Sunday, November 1 was designated the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church by the Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) and other groups dedicated to bringing awareness of worldwide persecution of Christians, providing resources for involvement in structured activities to come to their aid and focusing on intercessory prayer and support for these modern day martyrs. School Children Can Enter First Tobacco Free Art Exhibit

The Tobacco Free Partnership of Broward County is organizing its first Tobacco Free Art Exhibit.  Its purpose is to promote tobacco free beaches and parks in Broward County. The artwork will be produced by the youth of Broward County, ages 5 – 18.   School age children of Broward County have until October 31, 2015 to submit their entry, which will be voted on during the month of November to determine which pieces will be exhibited.  Once voting has been completed, those deemed eligible will be invited to display their artwork as part of the Tobacco Free Art Exhibit.  Participation guidelines […]

The Urban League of Broward County (ULBC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering communities and changing lives in the areas of education, jobs, housing and health, is the recipient of this year’s $350,000 Humana Communities Benefit charitable grant in Fort Lauderdale, funded by the Humana Foundation. “The Humana Foundation honors outstanding nonprofit organizations using transformative strategies to help prevent diabetes and congestive heart failure in their community,” said Virginia Kelly Judd, Executive Director of the Humana Foundation. The Bank of America Starlight Musicals Concert series, which ran June 19 –Aug. 7, 2015, at Holiday Park in Fort Lauderdale supported a number of local charities while providing family-friendly entertainment on Friday evenings throughout the summer.
