4KIDS raised more than $180,000 to benefit kids in crisis during their Sweet Dreams Gala on February 27, at the Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Stork’s Nest Prenatal Program was held on February 29 at Seagull Alternative High School. Stork’s Nest is a collaborative community-based program between the March of Dimes and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. that encourages pregnant women to receive early and regular prenatal care to help them have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.  Students were registered in December and the Stork’s Nest officially opened its doors on February 29. Korean War Veteran Now Has a Wheelchair Accessible Home Thanks to Local Volunteers

Homer Goddard served in the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star. When he left the military he worked in the construction industry and built the home he lives in today. But now the 85-year-old is struggling with Parkinson’s disease and uses a wheelchair which the home isn’t built to accommodate. On March 11, more than 20 volunteers from local Home Depot stores volunteered to make the changes to his home for free. Nearly 250 shooters took aim at Place of Hope’s fourth annual Sporting Clays Fun Shoot, a recreational fundraiser that combines the competition of clay shooting with supporting foster children in our community.
