$5 Million Gift to Florida Baptist Children’s Homes Honors Former Publix President

The family of Joe K. Blanton, the former president of Publix, has provided a gift of $5 million to Florida Baptist Children’s Homes to transform the lives of children for generations. The site of the organization’s international headquarters in Lakeland will be renamed the Joe K. Blanton Campus in honor of Blanton and his late wife, Alberta. The gift will be placed in the Joe K. On Saturday night, Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church was transformed into a bustling dance hall filled with fathers escorting their daughters dressed to the nines in their favorite glittering gowns. Nearly 250 shooters took aim at Place of Hope’s fourth annual Sporting Clays Fun Shoot, a recreational fundraiser that combines the competition of clay shooting with supporting foster children in our community. Homeschool Children Compete in 19th Annual Saints Track & Field Meets

Saints International Sports Ministry “Where Jesus is Lord & Every Child is a Winner!” held its 19th Annual Track & Field Meets in February. Over 1,000 homeschool kids ages 5-18 were able participate at one of the four locations; Jupiter, Tradewinds Park in Pompano, Naples, and Orlando. The athletes competed in 10 different events ranging from long jump, hurdles, discus, shot put and one-mile run. Also included were races for pre-schoolers such as Diaper Dash and Toddler Trot.
