Spiritual activity among adults

What is the connection between childhood faith and adult religious commitment? The Barna Group asked adults to think back on their upbringing and to describe the frequency of their involvement in Sunday school or religious training. More than 80 percent remembered consistently attending Sunday school, or having some other religious training, before the age of 12. Seven out of 10 said they attended religious programs weekly as young children. About 70 percent also recalled going to Sunday school or to other religious programs for teens, at least once a month. US House pounds on Roe v. Wade

In an historic healthcare vote, the Democrat-led House of Representatives excludes taxpayer-funded abortions and signals the “beginning of the end” for abortion in America. WASHINGTON, Nov. 8 – Taxpayer-funded abortion was excluded from the final healthcare bill, even though the public funding of abortion was a key component of President Obama’s presidential campaign and was strongly supported by Speaker Pelosi and House leadership. In spite of these facts, a healthcare bill including abortion funding would not pass. This vote is a reminder that America is turning away from the violence of abortion and embracing social justice and human rights for […]

Focus takes next step in leadership transition

Dr. James Dobson’s departure from the radio program and from official affiliation with the organization he founded in 1977 is just the “third chapter in a transition that began in 2003,” when Dobson stepped down as Focus president, said Jim Daly, the Life ‘s president and CEO. It was a mutual decision between Dobson and the Life ‘s board of directors, which Dobson left in February of this year, Daly added. “The Bible tells us that to everything there is a season – and Dr. Dobson’s season at Focus on the Family has been remarkable,” Daly said. “He has done […]

One girl can change the world

Texting and sexting, school violence, drug abuse, car accidents, pregnancy. Teens – including teenage girls – all too often make the News because of their problems and failures. Yet throughout history, there have been young women, like Joan of Arc, who are remembered for extraordinary personal accomplishments. Just a few months ago, Melanie Oudin, a 17-year-old tennis player, burst onto the scene by producing a solid showing at both the U.S. Open and Wimbledon. Or what about Taylor Swift, who after going platinum with her first album at age 16, is now so popular that tickets for her concert at […]

My response is my responsibility

My response is my responsibility Last month my wife and I finished “Love and Respect,” a married couples study, for the second time. Not that we didn’t get it the first time but it was so good that we wanted a refresher course. I think everyone has a need for refresher courses. Our daily routine can get so busy we can forget the basics of how to live every area of our life according to how God wants us to. I know I have taken several studies a second time over the last 12 years, and I will probably do […]
