God will part the Red Seas in your life

Let’s take a moment together to examine one of the most instructive and inspiring verses in all of sacred Scripture: “Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord” (Exodus 14:13). Having been freed from more than 400 years of bondage in Egypt, the Israelites find themselves seemingly trapped between the Red Sea and the pursuing Egyptian army. Their fear is great, their cry is loud and their hope is lost. Until God shows up! God parts the Red Sea! The Israelites did not find themselves trapped between Pharaoh’s approaching chariots and the Red Sea because Moses made a wrong […]

Be Broken Ministries of Daugherty

Jonathan Daugherty was exposed to pornography at age 12. That one moment lured him into a lifestyle that would wreak havoc on a marriage. Yet, years later, with a major intervention from above, that couple would find forgiveness and grace, and are now helping countless individuals struggling in the silent world of sex addiction. “During the first four years of our marriage, I was still struggling, and pornography was an issue,” says Daugherty of Be Broken Ministries, based in San Antonio, Texas. “My wife would ask questions, and I’d deflect. Eventually, I couldn’t keep juggling lies, so my wife left,” […]

Helping our children with Haiti

As children watch the children of Haiti, they need help processing the tragedy. They ask, “Mom, why did this happen?” But the real question on their minds is “Could this happen to us?” Tragedy is a horrible part of this world, but tragedy is also a reality. Yes, it could happen to any of us, in various ways. That’s why we don’t trust in anything other than God. Children need the opportunity to talk about the Haiti tragedy. Our children need to be taught to pray for the children of Haiti, as they are pointed toward God for their faith […]

Veterans oppose Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy

Two prominent veterans groups said they are not in favor of President Obama’s plan to put an end to the policy banning openly homosexual men and women from serving in the military. President Obama has made it clear he wants to change the laws so gay people can serve openly in the military. The two groups – Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion – have a combined membership of approximately 15 million. The president has repeatedly said he wants to get rid of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Defense Secretary Robert Gates told the Senate Armed Services Committee that […]

Encouragement for remarried couples

There are 35 million Americans in the United States today who are remarried. Remarriage and the stepfamily have changed the landscape of what families look like today. When couples remarry a second time, 60 percent of them will divorce again. For those who remarry for a third time, 75 percent will find divorce at the end of their relationship. Sounds kind of depressing, doesn’t it? One of the biggest reasons these divorces happen is that when people remarry, they don’t prepare themselves as they should. They have been married before; they know how it’s done. Well, we ask, “How’s that […]

Experts debunk study claiming two moms better than Mom and Dad

A study in the Journal of Marriage and Family concludes that any set of two or more compatible parents are as good for children as a married, biological mother and father. In particular, lesbians, they claim, “seem to outparent comparable married, heterosexual, biological parents.” Glenn Stanton, director of family formation studies at Focus on the Family, debunks the findings. “They’re just completely overreaching their hand,” he said. “Are we to think that nature has really sent each one of us down a second-rate road of having to be raised by a man and a woman?” The research dismisses more than […]

Evangelicals in Spain shows secularization

Granada, Spain – The CIA World Factbook says 94 percent of Spain’s population is classified as Roman Catholic, and the remaining 6 percent is classified as “other.” It is the “other” that is of great concern to evangelical missionaries here, because in that “other” category are the country’s evangelicals, estimated to be less that 1 percent of Spain´s population. Jesús Londoño works for COMIBAM International, an umbrella group that coordinates the work of mission organizations working in Spanish-speaking countries around the world. He said, “These numbers are the real spiritual situation in Spain. We have a church (that is) little, […]

James Dobson to launch new show

James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, has announced plans to launch a new radio show with his son in March, saying he cannot watch the world continue to fall into a moral decline without offering guidance. Dobson, 73, is severing ties with Focus at the end of February after 33 years of leadership. This decision, he said, was essential for passing along the leadership of the Life to a younger generation. As he announced his new radio venture in a Facebook post in December, Dobson said the 30-minute daily program, to be called “James Dobson on the Family,” […]
