A congregation -wide effort is underway at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale to fight hunger and feed hope this November. The goal is to feed over 1,000 families in our community this Thanksgiving. Individuals or families at Calvary are encouraged to donate one box of food or $40 in hopes of raising 20,000 pounds of food or a monetary donation of $20,000. Volunteers are also being sought to assist with offsite distribution events on Saturday, November 20. Rebuilding Together Broward County, a nonprofit organization that brings volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of low-income homeowners, hosted its second annual “Black Dresses & Blueprints,” cocktail reception and awards ceremony celebrating women in the construction industry on October 20. More than 4,000 locations will open to collect Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts for the Samaritan’s Purse project. Volunteers are preparing to collect shoebox gifts during National Collection Week, November 15 – 22, offering a curbside option. Operation Christmas Child Explained Operation Christmas Child has been collecting and delivering shoebox gifts—filled with school supplies, hygiene items and fun toys—to children worldwide since 1993. Life Chain is a peaceful, prayerful event that was launched 33 years ago in Southern California. The first Sunday of every October, thousands of individuals line the highways and byways, creating hundreds of Life Chains across America. Broward Right to Life organizes the Life Chain in Broward County. This year, over 20 churches participated on Oct. 3, from 2-3 pm.
