You Are Beautiful

You can clearly see the beauty of your Lord, though you have never seen Him. You see Him as wonderfully beautiful because you know something of the depth of beauty. Beauty, to you, is easily discernable without sight. You know beauty apart from visibility. You can measure your own beauty apart from a mirror; you are the mirror. In Christ, you know truths many others may never know. You know of the deep reality of a deeper beauty. Before the throne, there is a sea of glass, clear as crystal. This sea acts as a mirror reflecting the beauty that […]

Redeemed Road Kill

The culture has many complaints against Christianity. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” Perhaps the top complaint is that we are hypocritical, saying one thing and doing another. This, of course, is true for everyone, which is why we still need our Savior after we have been saved. But the complaint that we think we are superior to others just doesn’t hold water. True Christians do not think themselves superior, just saved. True Christians do not seem themselves as better than others, just bought by […]

Till Death Us Do Part?

Whether we’re married or not, most people can recite the traditional Christian wedding vows; I, (Name), take you, (Name), to be my lawfully wedded wife/husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God’s holy law, in the presence of God I make this vow. I have to admit that although I dated my husband off and on for nine years, I had no idea of the challenge or significance of the vows I […]

Be Strong. Work. Do Not Fear.

The prophet Haggai came during a time when God’s people were on their way to becoming secular occupants of a destitute and forgotten land. They had experienced hostility from virtually every neighboring tribe. They were tired, worn out and had forgotten Whose they were and to Whom they belonged.  However, God sent Haggai to remind God’s people to get on with the work of rebuilding his temple. Through his words, Haggai reminded them that they were the right people, called to the right place to do the right work of building for the Lord. His words couldn’t have been clearer: […]

Good News Wants to Know… Who was your favorite teacher?

It’s hard to believe summer will be drawing to an end soon.  As students head back to school in August, Good News Wants to Know… Who was your favorite teacher, in what subject and why?   My favorite teacher was in Junior High School. He was a physics professor named BoBo Anderson. He was able to take a very challenging course and make it fun and interesting. He pushed his students in a way to challenge us to think outside of the square. As a result, we advanced far above what a normal classroom teacher could accomplish. We visited Cape Canaveral in […]

Prayer Requested for Students Headed Back to School

Back to School Prayer is a call to prayer across southeast Florida. Every church is encouraged to ‘pray over’ a First Priority school sometime in the month of August…the campus, day and time to be determined by each congregation. The goal is for student missionaries, faculty sponsors, club mentors, parents, pastors, and congregants to gather at the school flagpole for corporate prayer. If they’re not able to access the flagpole we suggest gathering by the main school sign along the road.  The prayer team may either stay at that location or prayer-walk around the campus together. We are cautioning participants […]

The Cheerios Moment

It seems like I blinked and one second Kim and I were driving our girls home from the hospital starting our family, and the next we were walking them down the aisle as they started theirs. While the newborn stage was great, Kim and I find some of our fondest memories come from the toddler phase of our girls’ lives. We celebrated when each one figured out how to sit up then start scooting around. The angels rejoiced when we sprinkled their highchair trays with little round O’s and the girls figured out how to get them into their own […]
